由来自英国的氛围民谣三重奏组合rameses iii和数码工业音乐人brad rose化身的the north sea带来的迷幻电子民谣.专集其实早先已经在Finnish Lattajjaa厂牌下发行.这次type主理已经是"再发行"了.不过再版的专集也经过了重新混音的处理.再有就是增加了一首由type老板john twells化身的xela混音的"return of the ankou".要说到这两组音乐单位的主客关系,从专集的聆听上来说,似乎更多的是brad rose的实验电音引处在领和主导的地位.第二首"Night Blossoms Written In Sans"里连绵悠长的电音贯穿始终;背后是空灵遥望的斑卓琴朦胧地附和就是一个完美的范例.动则十七八分钟的氛围之音也许对聆听者是些许挑战,但是有brad rose一道道电音润色工序以及rameses iii星星点缀般的民谣琴音,它就将引领你一顺着他们的奇幻氛围在音乐中探索下去.

在2005年发行了EP[six preludes]后,来自英国剑桥底独立作曲家ryan teague于今年发行的首张个人作品专集.在这张新作品当中得到了来自剑桥爱乐(由tim redmond指挥),以及客席竖琴家rhodri davies的支持.ryan以极其巧妙的手法将古典元素以及电子成分有机地糅合到了这张氛围之作当中.而"实验音乐"这个大的前提又将其各种元素的分界线逐一擦拭,模糊.最终得到的是一张深邃,引人入胜的氛围之作."美丽","哀愁","神秘",各种情感都以氛围之音的身份出现在这张出色的专集里面.不得不佩服作曲家ryan teague,在乐思的构筑上表现出来的的这种与年龄不相称符的成熟老到.应该算是今年比较特别,比较出彩的一张氛围之作了.在这里推荐给大家^^.

ABOUT RYAN TEAGUE:Based in Cambridge, England, Ryan Teague is a composer who actively seeks to fuse the elements of electronic and acoustic music. His tempered electro-acoustic hybrids seek to explore the relationship between more traditional instrumentation and techniques with modern synthesis in order to forge new and innovative musical territories

As well as being an accomplished musician Teague often works with a broad variety of session musicians and often draws on unusual instruments and natural sounds to create the rich tonal variety that characterizes his music. Through this process he seeks to encourage inventive and spontaneous reactions to his work.

Ryan?s background and interests range from Modern Composition and electronic music through to jazz and progressive music, but always with a strong emphasis on spiritual and sacred qualities. In addition he is interested in Music Therapy and the ways in which music and its process can influence us on a more integral level.

曾经为franz ferdinand以及LCD Soundsystem做remix的挪威电音艺人hans-peter,今年带来的首张个人专集.被形容为一张用唱作人心态谱出的downbeat space disco的专集.怀旧的合成器音色加上精彩的编曲,是今年不容错过的一张电子专集.

It is with great pleasure that Smalltown Supersound can announce that the label will release Lindstrom`s debut album "It's a Feedelity Affair" in collaboration with Lindstrom himself and his Feedelity label. The album will be released the 23th. of October 2006 and includes among others his hits "Another Station" and "I Feel Space". The liner notes are written by NYC producer Daniel Wang.

Both Smalltown Supersound and Lindstrom/Feedelity are from Norway and a mutual trust, respect and understanding led to this collaboration. Lindstrom has obviously got many offers from records labels around the world, but he chose to stay independent and have control of his own music. Smalltown Supersound on the other hand found a soulmate in Lindstrom and the perfect sound for the label in Lindstroms`s music. Lindstrom fitted perfectly with the labels electro/electronica/pop roster with artists such as Bjorn Torske, Tussle, 120 Days, Kim Hiorthoy, Toy, Lars Horntveth, Jaga Jazzist and Mental Overdrive, the core of the label being Norwegian electronic music.

Lindstrom`s career took off after a string of critically acclaimed 12" singles that alone started a movement the press later would call "space disco". He is also well known for his remixes and has among others remixed LCD Soundsystem, Roxy Music, Franz Ferdinand, Annie and DFA`s Juan McLean. Last year Lindstrom also released a duo album with Norwegian DJ and friend Prins Thomas, titled "Lindstrom and Prins Thomas", an album that was released on Eskimo Records to wide critical acclaim. His most famous track and 12" , "I Feel Space" (released on both Playhouse and Feedelity), has now sold 17 000 copies, an impressive number these days for a vinyl only release. But now its finally time to compile all of Lindstrom`s seminal 12" on CD and download for the first time. The album also includes The Contemporary Fix, a new track from the 12" vinyl-single which has already been supported by Pete Tong and Annie Mac on BBC radio. Early in 2007 we will also release a single/EP from the album with a remix by EYE of the Boredoms.

每次扫过光复的BLOG,都不禁被这张唱片的封面所吸引.而依附在封面下面那言简意赅却噱头十足的注释,更是对我从心到耳的一番"咯吱".自从这小子奔赴山区,几次跟他在网上的"邂逅",却又始终忘记了要将专集的情况问个详实.只到前几日在他的一番推荐与保证下,终将其"擒"下.虽然说彼此在对音乐的审美情趣上难免有时相左,但是我和他也都相信彼此间在"大体"上的"大同".这次的lanterna的推荐,不论是在音乐的感官上,以及对推荐的认同度上,都让人想起去年silver screen的那个美好的例子.

对于instrumental的作品,我的要求总是比较极端:要么像今年继续癫狂的dysrhythmia那般用猛烈一手扯出的无边想象力,只求得以"有限"实现"无限"的可能;要么就像是don peris那般纯净得美仑美奂.让世俗的人声在奏得"此曲只应天上有"的器乐作品面前甘拜下风.而不是器乐模仿"无词曲"的折中路线.看看发行这张唱片的厂牌,确是刚从badman recording分支出来的instrumental专属厂牌jemez mountain.回想起今年同在其旗下发行的don peris的那张温情脉脉的go when the morning shineth,亦绝对是今年我的心头好之一.如此美丽的注脚又不禁让人开始对这张唱片开始浮想联翩...

laterna实际上是纽约客Henry Frayne化身的一个solo project.最初作为吉他手的他在90年代初期任职于风格多样化的Moon Seven Times以及Area两支乐队.随后laterna这个solo project开始于一盒自制的限量卡带.在2001年的时候他带着laterna加盟了badman,并于同年推出了得到极高评价的专集elm street.日后的专集sands以及highways则分别于2002年,2004年推出.这次的desert ocean,已经是laterna的第五张专集.

没有参不透的晦涩,也没有朦胧写意的氛围之音---desert ocean里的音乐却跟它的封面传递到我脑海中的故事毫无关联.初见封面,那些无趣的沙石与暗淡的色调还在让人连连猜测这是否是一张类似于ECM的modern jazz的instrumental作品.但是就像壮丽的景色总在峰回路转处,desert ocean的音乐肯定可以让产生上述类似错觉的朋友有"别有洞天"之感.专集开篇的luminous便开宗明义地带来由fryane一手奏出的云淡风轻的吉他.区别于那些印象里吉他手们风卷残云地连篇猛奏,fryane的轻拨弹奏已经显示出了一点"在别处"的味道.音乐中那海阔天空的音场以及尽抒其意的乐句让人回味起the sea and cake似的如云淡泊以及silver screen似的纯美爽朗.不得不提到的是,这张唱片的创作灵感全部来自fryane在为宣传上一张唱片highways的所以横跨欧美的旅途之中.所以音乐中那份"on the road"的气息也来得格外的浓重."venture"中那好似窥见雄鹰振翅于当头烈日下与"summer break"中独自驱车的惬意都来得画面感十足.而"fog"则是用吉他的撩拨对挥之不去的夜雾的一段写实素描.深邃的夜色与路途中的困倦来袭相互浑浊于难以琢磨的乐段之中."48th and 8th"标签似的神秘标题引人遐想其中的故事情节.浪漫情素于倦怠的心情共冶一炉,美得出尘.轻轻荡漾的吉他回音与依傍着的brush drum让人想就这样飘离大地.意在刻画奇山异水的"riverside"简直都快凸显其nue age的意境来."仙"味十足."cross country"里的一把箱琴则用音乐将乡间的景色一一描绘.而fryane力图捕捉的那份怀旧的美好气息也在这里芳香满溢.fryane那一直典藏的四十几年的音箱里飘出来的古朴真挚的琴音,足够我们借着这张唱片作为平台,享用好些时候了吧.

痴人说梦不是罪过.如果有一日我终可以驱车驰骋在大峡谷那弯曲的道路上,就让我把顶棚打开,看落日的余辉是如何把车下飞驰而过的黄土都渲染成褐红色.而那时我希望身旁有lanterna的音乐响起...

英国电子艺人Tom Jenkinson的第十张专集.夹杂ambient,breakbeat,drum n bass的多元化专集.如万花筒般绚烂夺目.

squarepusher biograpy:Squarepusher, the performing pseudonym of Thomas (or Tom) Jenkinson, is an English electronic music artist signed to Warp Records. He specialises in the electronic music genres of drum and bass, musique concrète (sampled digitally rather than by tape), and acid, albeit with a significant jazz influence.

Jenkinson was born in Chelmsford, Essex, and educated at King Edward VI Grammar School. A self-taught expert-level bass guitar player and drummer, his style of extremely fast, cut-up beats mixed with fusion jazz and interlaced with synth lines and samples has gained him a cult following. He is friends with Richard D. James (Aphex Twin), and his albums have been critically acclaimed for their forward-thinking approach to electronic music.

Jenkinson performs live, playing with a fretless or fretted bass guitar, a laptop, and other hardware. He appeared twice on BBC Radio 1's The Breezeblock show.

On 26 June 2005, Squarepusher played at London's Royal Festival Hall as part of the Show "Songs of Experience" a tribute to Jimi Hendrix. His 12 minute performance was built up of a medley of Hendrix tracks played solely on the bass guitar with the use of effects.

One of his brothers, Andy Jenkinson, is also a respected recording artist, under the name Ceephax Acid Crew. A third brother, Jonny, also performs and occasionally supports his siblings on tour as a drum and bass DJ.

Warp Records has announced that Squarepusher's next full-length album, titled "Hello Everything", will be released on October 16th. It leaked onto the file-sharing system [[DC++]] in August.

Canadian laptop artist Tim Hecker headlined the first night of The Wire’s Adventures In Modern Music fest, 2006 edition. Not a lot of people stayed around to hear him. It was a school night, and Jandek, the big draw, played first. Hecker’s audience consisted of a few chatty drunks near the back and a few rapt drunks up front. Of the two or three souls I heard comment on his performance, none said anything that would bear print in a family publication such as this one. But they seemed to dig it, hard. For Tim Hecker is the loudest laptop musician going. At any volume, his slow-burning noise sculptures are loud, loud stuff. To hear this stuff is to be moved, either to the back of the room or into the center of Hecker’s world.

关于JIM NOIR:

Jim Noir is a British singer-songwriter from Davyhulme in Manchester, England.

Noir, real name Alan Roberts (his stage moniker is in homage to Vic Reeves, whose real name is Jim Moir), has released one album to date, 2005's Tower of Love. The album and all of the preceding EPs were self-recorded at Noir's home in the suburb of Chorlton in Manchester. His music has been described as psychedelic pop and compared to The Beach Boys, The Beta Band, The Bees and fellow Mancunian Badly Drawn Boy. He is also known for a slightly eccentric dress sense, frequently appearing in a bowler hat. Noir is a multi-instrumentalist, playing all the instruments on his work.

He played at the 2006 South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas and is currently signed to Seattle-based indie label Barsuk Records in the States, whilst Atlantic UK licence him from Manchester label My Dad Recordings.

Noir released the single "My Patch" in the UK on May 1, 2006. Noir covered Cat Stevens' "Here Comes My Baby" for a 2006 Chase Manhattan Bank commercial in the US.

In 2006 Adidas used "Eanie Meany" for their World Cup advertising (Josè +10, second part). The song begins "If you don't give my football back, I'm gonna get my dad on you."

Noir is a supporter of Manchester City Football Club.

On his debut album, Tower of Love, Jim Noir proves himself to be a first-class mix-and-match master, blending the cheesy drum machines and bubbling synths of indie electronic, the lo-fi guitars and adult-child vocals of indie pop, and the full-bodied and harmony-drenched arrangements of chamber pop into a swirling, soothing, and truly lovely Technicolor pop confection. Noir also proves himself to be an able student of great outsider pop of the '60s, '70s, and 2000s. There are echoes of British eccentrics like XTC, Kevin Ayers, and ELO to be found in the grooves of Tower. There is the pronounced influence of those renowned American nutters, the mid-'70s edition of the Beach Boys and their Love You album. There are comparisons to be made to the anything-goes spirit and sound of contemporary explorers like Super Furry Animals and the Beta Band. Best of all, if you happen to have never heard of any of those bands and just love a good melody played and sung sweetly by a likeable singer, you will love the record just as much as someone who can train-spot all the influences.

There really isn't a weak song to be had, and the album flows past like a gentle stream winding its way through a summer meadow. Noir's crack hand at arranging provides many moments of pleasure: the lovely stacked vocal harmonies on the thrillingly peaceful "How to Be So Real," the smooth and EZ keys that decorate "Tower of Love," the loose-limbed and nearly funky bassline of "Key of C," and the twangy guitars that crop up unexpectedly in the absurdly peppy "A Quiet Man" are the work of someone with a firm grip on what it takes to make song burst into life. His songwriting is equal to his arranging skills, as catchy and richly constructed tunes like "Turbulent Weather," "I Me You I'm Yours," and "Turn Your Frown into a Smile" would make fellow Brits like Ray Davies or Rod Argent proud. The lyrics are light and breezy throughout, not liable to give Davies any pause but still quite likable, especially the songs about stealing footballs ("Eanie Meany") or the lighthearted threats. They help to bolster the childlike sense of wonder that the album is bathed in. You will be hard-pressed to keep from walking around all day grinning like a fish once you give the album an airing. In fact, doctors should prescribe a spin of Tower of Love to chase the blues away.

The only problem with the record is that it paints Noir into a corner, as it will be hard to top. Chances are the effort will be worth hearing though, and if it is half as good as Tower of Love, you will want it in heavy rotation. Along with the Boy Least Likely To's similarly wonderful debut, this is the sound of perfect pop music in the mid-2000s.
